The Railway Vue in Impington showed off its bright new look, when publicans Dean Hall and Lauretta Byrne invited Sir Jim for a visit today.
Sir Jim pulled a pint and discussed the pub industry as well as the recent upgrade to their facilities. The pub officially reopened on 12 February, when the bars were packed with locals enjoying free menu and drinks tasters, together with live music.
Dean and Lauretta took over the pub four months ago as Partners with Punch Taverns, who own the premises. They have since introduced food in the evenings, ushering in a gastropub atmosphere.
To complement their vision, The Railway Vue was recently closed for a month to allow the Partners, with Punch Taverns’ backing, to give the pub an internal makeover and new signage. The pub’s new contemporary look will be completed in the spring, with exterior decoration and further outside tables, thanks to a realigned car park – bringing the total overall investment to £110,000.
The Railway Vue is a favourite with locals and workers from the nearby business park. The pub offers a range of lagers and four craft ales, with darts, Sky Sports and entertainment all part of the mix.
The pub also attracts diners, and chef Gareth Sandelance and his small brigade pride themselves on a changing menu of classics based around seasonal and local produce.
This is a first pub for Dean and Lauretta, although Dean has extensive bar, restaurant and hotel experience, while Lauretta has focused on events and entertainments.
Dean said: “This is a local pub for the local community. Our vision is to deliver great food, great service, great drinks and live music… so people keep coming back.”
After his visit, Sir Jim commented: “Good pubs need good beer and a friendly landlord. I found both in the Railway Vue and had to force myself to leave”
André Quibell, New Business Development Manager at Punch Taverns, said: “It’s always fantastic to see two great operators like Dean and Lauretta transform a pub into a thriving business for the community. We’ve been pleased to play our part.
“Punch Taverns would like to thank Sir James for taking time from his busy schedule to support our Partners’ business. We all wish them every success for the future.”
