Following some concerns that were raised about the scheme being retained by the Department for Transport, Ms Frazer requested a meeting with Mr Jones to seek assurances that the upgrade would go ahead as planned. The Minister made clear that the Department did not know of any reason why the upgrade would be delayed and that work should go ahead as scheduled. Mr Jones also said that the next stage is the presentation of the business case for the bypass by Cambridgeshire County Council, which he expected to receive in the near future.
The Bypass upgrade has been retained by the Department for Transport due to the complexity of the project so that they can oversee its progress.
Following the meeting, Lucy said, “I am pleased that the Minister took time to listen to the concerns that had been raised about the bypass being retained and I am relieved to hear that work is due to go ahead as scheduled. I will continue to work with all parties to ensure that the upgrade is delivered as soon as possible and will be meeting with the County Council this week to ask for an update on the business case.”
